Why Ensign Travel?
There are many companies that provide opportunities to see and experience different parts of the world. Cruise ships carry passengers to almost every part of the world. Land-based tours are led from many locations. So why travel with us
There are 3 reasons worth mentioning:
First - We provide you with a competitively priced experience to temporarily lift you out of the smog and noise of the world, to help you gain a greater vision of “the grandeur of the great cause.” Shortly after arriving in the Salt Lake Valley, Brigham Young led a small group of church leaders to an overlook of the valley, later called Ensign Peak. Although several of the men were ill, and there was much to be done to sustain life through the coming winter months, the experience of momentarily removing themselves from the mundane things of life, gave them a view and a vision that became critical to their eventual success. The perspective they gained on Ensign Peak conveyed a critical vision of the work that was to be done. President Gordon B. Hinckley, describes it this way:
"While doing all of the many mundane things they were required to do to stay alive and grow, our forebears ever kept before them the grandeur of the great cause in which they were engaged. It is a work which we must do with the same vision they held. It is a work which will go on after we have left this scene. I give you the challenge that while you are performing the part to which you have been called, never lose sight of the whole majestic and wonderful picture." Gordon B. Hinckley, "An Ensign to the Nations," Ensign, November 1989, 51.
By occasionally removing ourselves from the smog and noise of the world, we also will have a better vision of "the grandeur of the great cause" and what we can do to help build it. Ensign Travel can provide you with a competitively priced opportunity to make more vivid that “view and vision.”
A second reason to travel with us is that all of our directors have had years of experience teaching the gospel. If the gospel is taught effectively at sacred sites, the group as a whole will learn much more than could ever be learned individually. We call this “spiritual synergy.” The directors of Ensign Travel have the ability to facilitate this “spiritual synergy” which allows each person in the group to grow and learn things from each other that would never be learned individually. As the group shares feeling, insights, and testimony about particular doctrines and principles, each person is taught in ways that surpass what could be learned individually. This group-approach to learning makes the learning process for each individual a rich, rewarding, and powerful experience. Although individually we are imperfect, there is a magic in the unity that propels us more efficient understanding. President Hinckley couched the concept this way:
“Weave beautifully your small thread in the grand tapestry . . . God will help us do our very best . . . with imperfect hands, united together to execute a perfect pattern." Gordon B. Hinckley, "An Ensign to the Nations," Ensign, November 1989, 51.
Hence, the spiritual insights that are sharedby the group will be yours to relive, rethink, and remember long after the tour has ended.
A third reason to tour with Ensign Travel is that there are important lessons learned and motivation maintained by looking back to our ancestors. This “look back” is facilitated by using the scriptures at these sacred sites. The directors of Ensign Travel have the training to connect sacred sites with the scriptures. As we study the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, or recent Church History, there are wonderful lessons to be learned by looking to the past.
"It is good to look to the past to gain appreciation for the present and prospective for the future. It is good to look upon the virtues of those who have gone before, to gain strength for whatever lies ahead. It is good to reflect upon the work of those who labored so hard and gained so little in this world, but out of whose dreams and early plans . . . has come a great harvest of which we are the beneficiaries. Their tremendous example can become a compelling motivation for all of us." Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Faith of the Pioneers," Ensign, July 1984, 3.
Such an experience brings the sites and scriptures into a more congruent focus. After having such a tour, it is very likely that you will never read your scriptures the same way.
In summary, Ensign Travel will provide you with an opportunity to: (1) remove yourself from the smog and noise of the world; so you can (2) unitedly help each other learn; and (3) look to the past scriptural examples for greater strength to better build the kingdom.
“The whole trip was wonderful. It went far above my expectations. Everything was perfect. Star-gazing from the top of the ruins of Becan was awesome! “Spanish for singles” on the bus was hilarious! The way our director organized and utilized the committees was fantastic. It got everyone involved. In three days I felt so close to everyone on the trip. Everything was so well organized and well prepared. I was particularly surprised at all the spiritual experiences we had. I feel it is important to have spiritual experiences. Our sacrament and testimony meeting and Brother Redd’s presentation at Dzibanche, with the time to go off by ourselves, was one of the highlights of my life.”
- Stacey Craig
“The neatest thing to me was being able to share the gospel. It was an incredible opportunity to open my eyes and discover how much I need to prepare for a mission. But also it showed me you don’t have to be an expert to share the gospel. I feel more comfortable now, sharing it any time, anywhere. I now have a better understanding of, gratitude for, and solidified pictures in my mind as I read the Book of Mormon.”
- Kirtley Sorenson
“All of the presentations were spiritually insightful and I enjoyed them immensely. I have a stronger testimony and desire for obedience because of them. I now have a stronger testimony, greater faith and less inhibitions about sharing the gospel. Missionary work was one of the highlights for me.”
- Julie Kleinman
“This trip helped me to grow up! I appreciate everything in my life more than I ever have before. It opened my eyes to the outside world. I have grown closer to the people on our trip. I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and the Savior. This has been one of the best spiritually growing experiences of my life.”
- Jessica Adamson
“I loved all the presentations done … at the sites. They brought the Book of Mormon to life and helped me to think deeper about the stories, doctrines, and principles it teaches. I now have a stronger testimony of the gospel including its impact and consistency throughout the world.”
- Jennifer Banks
